The Sohrai art on the box is part of an unbroken 11,000-year indigenous art tradition of the tribes of Jharkhand, created by artist Manikchand. Sohrai, originally a mural art, was passed down from mother to daughter and adorned the walls of mud houses of the region, depicting themes of nature, wildlife, and family. In a bid to stay alive, the art has now leapt off the wall to canvas and paper. The artwork on this box depicts a family of deer making their way across the forest, a typical Sohrai theme.
