Do you know how much time it takes for one plastic bottle to completely break down? 450 years. That is just the time it takes to disintegrate–it still stays on in the land.
Out of the million tons of waste generated, CSE(Centre for Science and Statistics) states that only 12% of the plastic is actually recycled.
While some of us can eliminate plastic bottle use, most of us are only able to minimize it to a large extent. What does one do with them once they are used? And, while we think of plastic bottles, the caps, usually made of thicker plastic, also enter the picture.
Our Day 2 challenge spotlights repurposing plastic caps.
Day 2 challenge: Repurpose your plastic bottle caps into something useful.
As usual, we have you covered, in case you need ideas!
Let’s look at how you can make an airtight cover with just the bottle cap and a little bit of the plastic bottle! Use this during travel, or to store small quantities in your fridge.
Let’s learn how to do this, thanks to Home Talk.
- Cut the bottle from the upper half so that you get the cap along with some plastic support.
- Check if the carved out bottle looks like a cone.
- Place the bottle cone on the mouth of the plastic bag and open the cap
- Pull the mouth of the plastic bag and cover the cap holder then close the cap along with the plastic bag.
Now the stored item is easy to remove and safely stored.
