It’s wedding season!
Folks are getting their silks and wedding wear ready! Everyone is talking about the trend of green weddings. Sustainable and reusable décor, food and cutlery going green, and even mandaps are all going the green way. Some wedding parties are also looking at ethically sourced trousseau, responsible trousseaus, etc.
How about us, the Great Indian Wedding Attendee? How can we ensure that our footprint is minimized?
Travel to the venue: Please try and carpool to and from the venue, if going with friends from the same area. It’s not just green, it’s fun!
Gift packaging: One of the most used gifting materials is the plastic gift wrapper. Avoid. Paper gift wraps may cost a bit extra but they look very elegant and are worth the extra effort. If you have time, you can make your own as well. Paper gift bags are a great idea too!
The actual gift: If the couple has a registry, please go ahead and fulfil a product from that. Or use gift cards that the couple can use, without the need for expensive returns.
It is also a good idea to buy gifts in bulk at the beginning of the wedding season, so there are minimum shipments. Browse our sustainable wedding gift options, including the Club Artizen gift card.
*If giving cash, consider our reusable shagun/gift envelopes! Buy in bulk and use up for the entire wedding season!
Dining: Whether buffet or served feast, just take what you need. Food wastage is a significant source of waste, with an estimated 20% of food served at Indian weddings being wasted.
